Recent mathematical progress in General Relativity

Inhaltsangabe / Literatur / empfohlene Vorkenntnisse
The goal of the seminar is to understand some recent mathematical progress
in General Relativity. The first part summarizes some older result, while
the talks towards the end discuss progress associated to analysis on manifolds
of the last decade.
The main subjects are:
- The Cauchy problem for the Einstein equations
- Hawking's and Penrose's singularity theorems
- Positive mass theorems
- Penrose inequality
- Marginally outer trapped surfaces
- Hawking's black hole topology theorem and generalisation to higher dimensions
The language of the seminar will probably be English.
